Storyboard - Story - Start, Middle and End

Storyboard

Before we start our video it is nice to have a storyboard.  This will be useful when deciding on the overall level design, placement of objects and when Mario will interact with them.

Ryan: Below is the level plan for the first level of Super Mario Bros 3 on the SNES.  Which I found on Google Images.

Lavinia: This is a really nice level from the Super Mario game, Gives me and Ryan a good idea of how to plan our story board.

Below is a quick storyboard we drew up using sprites from the games.  The video will start with the bus moving and then Mario will come our of the pipe.  Mario will then need to run after the bus and catch it at the next stop.  I was a little ahead in my sprite designing so we added a few into the storyboard.  The only thing that is missing from this storyboard really is our objects which we can add when it comes to do the video itself.  For the bus itself we will both design one and see what is better to use for the video.  We also want to add ourselves onto the bus.  The minion photograph is added to represent a photograph of us which will be animated to follow Mario as he progresses through the level.  The platforms and objects will be used in our video as well as the objects.

Ryan: I like our storyboard.  Although it looks rough it gives a very good impression on what it is we want to create.  It also gives us a good estimate on what size to do the background image.  At the moment this image is 12800x720 pixels.  The background will scroll across the screen as the bus moves along the top.  Objects in this storyboard could change in size when it comes to the real video.

Lavinia: I really like our story board as we have a good bit of ideas of what to put in it, to make the level interesting. It gives me and Ryan a look of what sizes objects will need to be. The video will be two minutes and 30 seconds long we believe, The background will scroll across the screen, the bus will move at the top of video to show what Mario is running through the level for.
